Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF), Assam Chapter works to promote excellence in teacher education by fostering innovation, professional development, and academic collaboration.

The Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF) is a leading professional organization in India, accorded international status in 2009. Established in 1985 at Bhopal by the late Dr. Gulab Chaurasia—an eminent educationist, global teacher educator, and humanitarian—CTEF began with a small group of like-minded teachers and teacher educators. Through sustained efforts and visionary initiatives, the organization has evolved into a mature professional body with affiliated chapters in twenty-five states across India and three overseas countries.
CTEF has a vast network of life members comprising teachers, educationists, academicians, teacher educators, educational administrators, policymakers, and researchers. The primary objective of the Foundation is to build professional competencies, enhance teaching skills, and foster a culture of professionalism among teachers through diverse training programmes, academic activities, and capacity-building initiatives. Its national and international chapters conduct teacher development programmes throughout the year.
CTEF is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (XXI of 1860) with Registration No. Nagpur/0000403/2019. The Foundation is guided by an eminent leadership team, including Prof. R. G. Kothari (Chief Adviser, Gujarat), Dr. K. M. Bhandarkar (National President, Maharashtra), Prof. Nilima Bhagabati (International Secretary General, Assam), Dr. Ushosi Guha (Secretary, Legal Affairs, Maharashtra), Dr. Jasvir K. Chahal (Secretary, Media & Communication, Punjab), and Dr. Jignesh B. Patel (Assistant Secretary General, Gujarat). The organization is further strengthened by Zonal Vice Presidents—Dr. Satinder Dhillon (North Zone), Dr. V. M. Sasi Kumar (South Zone), Dr. Sanjeev Sonwane (West Zone), and Dr. Irom Gambhir Singh (East Zone).
The CTEF Assam Chapter was launched in 2001 in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. Currently, Prof. Nilima Bhagabati serves as Chairperson of the Assam Chapter, supported by Dr. Satya Brata Baruah (Treasurer) and Sri Sasanka Hazarika (Secretary).
